I'm not sure who you are accusing of twisting facts. If you read the book, you would have noticed that Mr. Zoretic never took the position that the only prisoners on Goli Otok were Croatians.

As a grandson of one of the prisoners, have to tell here, just for the reason of truth, that most of the victims and prisoners were Serbs, not us, and that prison was not for those who wanted to "stop serbian hegemony" in communist Yugoslavia but for every person who said or even thought of saying NO to Tito's commies. Amongst most trusted Tito's people were only Croatians and Slovenians so please don't take everything from this book for granted. Thanks... not bad, but not totally true - in service of croatian politics, of course...

Thank you Mr.Zoretic for this book, especially because it is written in English and reachable/readable for non-Croatians.Goli Otok is a very important part of Croatian (younger) history where people were locked up just for being Croatian and/or had a different point of view than the communist ruling party in Belgrade...

Just about everybody know that Goli Otok vas gulag in Croatia for mainly Serbians and Monte Negrins nationality citizens of former Yugoslavia that was suporting closer ties with former USSR . Considered as a thret to Tito , real name( Josip Broz (Croatian)) and his suporters . If they are destroying it that mins they are ashamed of the past and what they did to the people there .
Lest we forget ...Jasenovac...

This year we had a trip with the ship around the Goli Otok. We were not landind there but just cruising round it. I could not express my feeling write now but I know for 2 Slovenian people who was there. Till now I understand that this is the crime about human dignity and it is good example of slavery in 20th century.
Why do I have a feeling that the historian is keeping silence? Why the people do not want to talk about this? Why we do not want to write down the historical facts? In the name of what?
From my town where I am living I have only about 2 hours drive and 1 hour shipping, so do not hesitate if someone is insteresting to contact with me!

My Uncle was sent to the Goli Otok for 11 years all because he's Croatian Uniform from WW2 had not been disposed of. The Serb lead Yugoslav communists were plain evil with no regard for the Croat or Albanian citizens of the so called Yugoslavia. We here an extreme amount of information regarding the Russian gulags but nothing about the torture of Goli Otok.The western media must be lobbyed regarding this issue. The serbs had 50 years to lobby there inflated causes with no meaning, now we must act as we have the chance. Thank god the so called "Bratsvo i Jedinstvo" je KREPALA.

Hi, I am grandson to a fine Croatian, who was on GOLI OTOK 1945-1956. My mother his dother got the news for the first time in 1961 in Sweden from a Canadian forme prisoner who was lucky to escape in 1955.
Would be very happy if somebody knew my Grandfather and specially wher he may be burried so I can take his remains and bring them to the grave where his Vife is burried in Dakovo.
His name is Gen. Josip Gamberger
